Well, today was a good day. A hot day...but a good one. A lot of craziness happened. Photographs being taken, outfits being changed out of and into, lugging a huge red bag and purse around the whole day, many food and drink pit stops, and finding a credit card in a bike rental maching only to find out that all the wallet drop offs at every bank were closed (don't worry, we cut it up). It was EXTREMELY hot though, which made it extra necessary to powder my nose (curse you combination skin!). Although, I did have a good time, and I got to see and talk to someone I had seen or talked to in a long time and dearly missed, it may be the last day of July but already the days are getting good. I hope you all had a great and (maybe hot) day, and go enjoy the rest of it!

What have I accomplished today? I went and retrieved an application for a job, emailed an important someone, ate a quesadilla, and bought a pair of gorgeous red and white running shoes. All in all, I didn't do much. But you know when you get that feeling that you can't do much one day because the day after will be so overloaded, crazy and unnerving that you must take and enjoy the time now? I sort of had that feeling, I really did, but then another little voice was saying, and still is at 10:10pm, to get out and breathe. Do something. Do anything! Just get out! I advise this to all you imaginary readers. I really do.

bloor street fair

Well, I enjoyed my Sunday by spending the whole day with one of my best friends, along with my mom, and her best friend. I first part of the day was spent at the Antique Market across from the St.Lawrence Market, and the many dogs of Woofstock (HUGE dog street fair that went on for the whole weekend--piture of man with dod in a snuggie is from the fair) with my best friend. Then later moving on to Bathurst & Bloor for the Bloor street fair with my mom, her best friend, and my best friend. It's one of my favourite places in Toronto and one of the most interesting. It has lots of cute little shops with unique items, and so we enjoyed ourselves very much, including; eating "potato tornados", LOTS of free frozen yogurt samples from Menchies, tea from Davids Tea, crazy buttons and awesome sidewalk signs from Outer Layer (the first picture reminds me of my mom, the third of my dad), and eatting wings, fries, and special sauce from St.Louis! Yummm! Hope you guys had a fun weekend too!

You won't know this, but I am usually a heavy packer. I like to pack for every type of situation, weather outcome, event, all for one weekend. However, as of lately, I have decided to start packing light. And I like it. I like having to make do with what I've got, and having to create new outfits from the limited items brought with me, it's like a challenge. Also, it's an even greater challenge for me since I change my outfit two or three times a day. That's Stefanie for ya.

Meeting The Queens

I went to BOTH queen streets awhile ago but haven't had the time to post up the pictures. I had some company along the way, from the beginning to a paper store that was closed but had such a amazing picture of a person made of sheets of pictured pieces of paper pieced together, then to closed shop windows, old historic pretty buildings with flowers and wild gardens. Then onto the library by the beaches and mural of where we were at the time. All in all it was very nice and enjoyable, plus a shot of hectic. Hope you guys have interesting places to go to and enjoy.

Closet Resolutions

So. I was reading one of the MANY blogs i follow, and I came across a "My Closet Resolutions" post. It basically inspired me to clean out my closet (as I've been doing for the past two weeks) and create a strategy. So I'm sharing the Resolutions post with you. You can find the original post here.

MY CLOSET RESOLUTIONS

1. Know your inventory: instead of buying something new, I should know/remember that I have something of the same style stored in a box. which leads me to the other point;

2. Be more creative: mix and matching old stuff creates an all new style, no need to refresh everything each season! which leads me to my other point;

3. Sew more: From flare jeans to skinny jeans and from boyfriend to dropped crotch jeans, sometimes only few minutes on the sewing machine will re-shape an old friend into a new one! Here are a couple of DIY alterations I need to do: denim jeans to shorts, tee-shirts to tank top, stained tee to DIY dye tee, loose tee to fringe tank-top etc, sweaters to cropped sweater and shredded sweater.

4. Buy smart: I realized that I most often wear my used/thrifted clothes than the very fast-fashion clothes I bought new. Since they are more different and less EN VOGUE, I keep them for a longer time. On the other hand, the more I pay for a NEW garment, the more I am likely to wear it in 5 years.

5. Let go off the old stuff: If I can’t up-cycle it or make it look better: give it away. If I have the feeling I might want to wear it in the future: keeper.

6. Never get rid of shoes / boots: I know, that’s not very « voluntary simplicity »… but I found out that all my shoes have their role to play in my quiver and it might take them 10 years to make their come-back, but I know they will.

7. Organize: Store the clothes clean, by « season » in plastic boxes with a Bounce sheet to prevent odors.

* Separate blacks from the colors.

As you've probably noticed by now, the blog is under heavy renovations.

I've been changing it up quite a bit the last few days, and I think I've finally come to thge conclusion that I want something clean, fresh, and a blog that needs very little maintanence.

Thus, this is the look I am building. you might think that this take little effort, you are WRONG. Creating the right amount of clean and fresh without looking lazy is hard, especially when you're incorporating colors...

So bear with me a little longer until I get the hang of things, and hopefully I will be done soon.

Today was an eventful day...sort of. I spent time with a good friend of mine. Had my skinny-ass-self a Caesar salad (keeping up the stereo type) and a cinnabon. Went to see Red Riding Hood, very sexxy/hot men in there by the way, and did some shopping. Needless to say, i found something i really liked, was broke, then realized i had a gidftcard i could've used. Maybe it was karma for just getting a salad :/

Life is Beautiful

Life...is beautiful.
This is a movie, not justone of my random realizations.
Though a realization in its own.
The movie is actually a comedy, romance, and tragedy all wrapped in one.
Now how about that?!
Well, the man (seen in the picture) falls in love and weds the woman (in the picture also), and they have a child (guess what i'm going to say...). There's humor. And then there's darkness.
See, the moive is also about the holocaust.
The family is jewis, and are taken to a concentration camp.
The part that gets me is how the father convinces his son that they are there to play a game' and if they get 1000 points' the son will win a tank, and get to go home.
He brings light into the darkest of moments. All up until his execution by a nazi.
Thank the lord this wasn't a true story...
But does it really matter?

Not the city...the movie.Well, it could also be the city...but no. I'm talking about the movie. The movie I'm watching right now at this moment as I type this, listening to Mr. Celophane.
I've been watching all these "old" VHSs, all of them. Well all the good ones at least :)
God I missed this movie! I only watched it once a loooong time ago. But I'm glad I'm watching it now.
The murder, mystery, deceit, the costumes! By the way, I didn't know most of the people in this movie could sing!Something that really entertains is the the courts and lawyers in this movie. The lying, cheating and full out dishonesty. How these lawyers could get away with this is past me. But that's the movies right?
God I love the costumes! The Flappers with the tassels and sequins. Even the nightgown with lace and shear. The hair! My! The hair! How I would love to have my hair look like even their messiest of hair days! The perfect waves that softly flow thru their hair, lord! my hair would never look like that! Haha.
Well...I dnt really want to type that long so I'm going to finish my movie :)

Sleepless

Tonight I sat up late at night with my pillow, blanket, caramel-corn, chocolate cake, berry juice, a recliner and one of my favourite movies.

Sleepless in Seatle.

Yes, the one with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan that was made in 1993.

I must say that I will forever love Tom Hanks, even if he were to pull a "Tiger Woods" and sleep with 14 women. I wouldn't be able to change my view or love of him. But that's another post for another day.

As for Meg Ryan...well! If Tom Hanks weren't married, I would wish those two together any time. Such chemistry and romance, even in this movie--which was the first movie they ever did together--they didn't even have that many scenes together yet the emotion was there, it just can't be denied even today. However, this movie isn't even my favourite of their's!

My favourite would have to be You've Got Mail, a movie they did together 6 years after Sleepless in Seatle.

That movie makes my heart hurt every time. Not because it's heart-wrenching or depressing, its the shear thought of true love with the unlikely.

One aspect of You've Got Mail that I absolutely love is that, at the beginning of the movie and throughout you see Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan's characters pass each other by everyday and never notice once. To see someone everyday, to pass them by and never give them a second thought, to not stop and look around for once. It just leaves me flabbergasted everytime. It makes me think about the people I pass everyday, the people I ignore on the bus, in the grocery store, on the sidewalk...

Never do we notice who we come into contact with.

Maybe that new boss of yours went to the same cafe as you for 2 years and bought the exact same sandwhich as you everyday at the exact time that you would always order yours, and maybe you even got his sandwhich and he got yours because you couldn't tell whose was whose, and he just became that guy you would refer to as "the guy who always gets the same sandwhich as me", and finally, 2 years later...he's your boss. Who knew?!

No one, that's who, because like I said, we don't stop and take a second...no, not a second, a few minutes to look around. Whether the reason be that you have to be at work on time, be at school on time, or you're just too absorbed with your life, your-self, to not notice the...oh, I don't know...the man that sits across from you on the subway everyday just so he can catch a glimpse of you between the hoard of people because he's madly in love with you, or maybe the guy in your science class who asks you for your notes every week even though he writes up perfectly good notes by himself but you just never seem to notice.

Now I';ve gotten carried away, but you see my point...

My god! I'm not even talking about the movie I just watched!

Sleepless in Seatle has a different kind of love. Its the love of a person you've never met before yet you can't help but fall madly inlove with them.

"Meet me at the top of the Empire State Building on Valentine's day"

Lord, do I wish a (gentle)man would say that to me...

Let's pull a Chuck and Blair scene, only without the cheating and bullets.

Or let's do it the old-fashioned way from An Affair to Remember...only without the disappointment, taxi accident, or cripple-ness.

On second thought...let's just do it our way.

Let's fall in love without regret, let's hurt without restriction, and let's forgive without forgetting.

Love.......let's do it all.

Life can be confusing. Yes, you've probably figured that out by now. And you're now wondering if im some psychic who could see into the future and nothing was confusing because i new exactly what was going on and now i've lost my power, but no. I just dont know what to think of life in the generalist of forms. One second you're being thrown curveballs, the next you're taking a walk. Take my life for instance. Friends, family, relationships, school, etc. All mixed and messed up. people, hurting, people missing, people leaving, all and everything. But then things start to fall into place, people come together, people come back (slowly) and some leave (for the better), and then there are the new people you never noticed before until now, and they come into your life, and finally, there are of course the people who will always remain with you, thru thick and thin. And when everything comes together, there's bliss. And then there's excitement, emotion, and everything-ness. all there in one pot, stirring, mixing, and creatings something tasty and delicious.
Its a recipe for happiness.
Sometimes i ADORE life.

You know when you have those random days? When nothing and everything is happening? When you don't have have to do anything but everything you have to do. And that that everything you have to do is stuff you DON'T want to do? Well, I hate those days. I hate having boring responsibilities, and having to give up time in your life to do those things, when I'd rather be doing what I want. Having fun, spending quality time, catching up with friends...living. God damn responsibilities that are supposed to bring you to your future. Maybe my future doesn't happen by staying within the lines. Maybe my future is going off the rails into a land of fun, love, creativity, and life in general.
I don't want to just waste away.

I sat in my classroom, and as i looked out the window...i saw a black ordinary squirrel on a baren tree. Something so ordinary, yet something to think about. I sat there and wondered what the significance of this squirrel's life was. What was it's point in life? why scavenge, and collect fo the winter? why eat the dry dead leaves off that tree? Why exist? What is so special about that squirrel's life that it deserves to live it? I dont know about religion, or spirituality, but i dont agree with pesimists that life isnt worth living. I dnt know if we have a point for living, but we're here, now, and into the future, and every second we stay on the planet is for some reason, i haven't the slightest idea why, but if we're here, we might as well make use of our time. Do something! Be someone! Live and Love this god forsaken life!

Sometimes you wake up and everything in the world seems so wonderful, you have so much excitement for the day and NOTHING can ruin it. Then you wake up the next day and you feel well.....not awful or horrible, just...indifferent and uncertain. What once was something so simply amazing can turn into something you have no idea what to feel about. I hate that feeling, you just want to get back, be happy and blissful. I especially hate what this does to the people around the situation. Whether they think its hormones, unhappiness, a mental imbalance, whatever, its not, its just... well i think its just too much of a good thing can wear you out, and then you dont have enough for the next day. Thats my theory. And sure!, you can have happy blissful excitement for days, months, years!, however long, and then you come to an end, not a depression, maybe a form of depression, just...worn.

Love Man

As you can probably tell, I was on the bus when I secretly took this photo. I feel in love with this man. Not in the sense that I wanted to jump him or marry him! But in the sense that he had a kind heart. Flowers, orange 80s sunglasses, the newspaper, and socks and sandals. I like to think that he was bringing those flowers to a loved one, just for the hell of it, not because of an occasion, just because he loved that person so much that he didn't need a reason to bring that person flowers. I want a man like that, I want to grow old with someone like that, I want to be loved like that, and in return, love like that. But I'm still young, and I know people think that people as young as me don"t know anything about love. But that's not true, we know of love, we know about it, around it, and thru it, what we might not know, is how it feels.

I found this photograph at a thift store. I bought with a bunch of postcards to further add to my obssession :P

And I have to say that I love it. Even though it's so old the photo is exTREMELY clear. The swans, the house/building in the backof the photo, the trees, everything. It's a gorgeous photo and I'm happy I found it. There was even a hand-written comment by the original owner on it. So cute!

Sometimes it's hard to realise that your not okay with being alone. Sometimes you just got to face it, that you DO need some company. Or that you do need a man (or woman). No one wants to admit. And the ones who do admit it go overboard and rely solely on that person. There's a sense of pride and independence that comes from being alone, and sure, there are people that are alright with being alone; like hermits. And I will admit it, there is only so much family company, or friend company that can take up the space a bf/gf can. I love my family...sometimes...and I love my friends, but it does get lonely. And you end up wondering. When am I going to get someone?

Ramblings of a Thoughtless Thinker

I was just thinking...how I'm so stuck in a rut right now, that I really need to break free. I've been in this rut for a couple of years now, and I know I won't really be happy until I get out of it. But the thing is. I can't get out of it right now. But if it gets to be too much I'll have to take drastic measures next year, but if I want to play it safe...it's going to be another two years. TWO YEARS! Do you think my happiness is not important enough to have to wait two years to BE happy?!?! Unfortunately, I can't really do anything about the situation right now because if I do something about it right now, it could jeopardize my future. I can't jeopardize my future. It's the only way I'll be able to get out of the rut. What's the rut you say?

My life.

No, I'm not suicidal, I'm talking about the life I'm living now. I'm bored, and uninspired. I find no point in anything because I'm unhappy and the only sliver of happiness I'm going to get in less than a year, is when I go on my trip to New York next year in the summer. I belong in New York. I loooooove New York. Actually there are not great enough words to describe how much I want to be in New York for the rest of my life. I get giddy just thinking about it. I have tears of happiness just when I'm THINKING about it. You don't know how much New york means to me. It means a lot.

Second Cup and a Pumpkin Spice Latte...long time agoooooo

So a couple of weks ago, I went to second cup because I had to use the internet for work. While there I decided to try their Pumpkin Spice Latte. If I had to rate it our of 5, I'd give is a 3. It was nice and I plan on doing a segment for the blog, were I will post one BIG post rate all these limited time drinks from second cup, the next one on my list...GINGERBREAD LATTE.
