Taste of the Danforth

Yesterday was the Taste of the Danforth, as I told you previously. We had a great time, I ended up going with a group which included; Becca, My friend Lilly, my Mom, my grandmother, and my Mom's long-lost friend Sean. We had a blast! Talk about people, food, and belly dancing! hahahahaha We got there at 10 to 12 and went for dinner at 5pm! That's a LOT of walking! But that also meant shopping!However, there are few actual non-food places there so we had to look hard, and so we ended up finding a couple of stores that were REALLY cute! Here some pictures from things I got last year, and this year...

On top of the shopping there was the food, we went to a new restaurant this year, "Christina's" and absolutely LOVED it! We ended up getting platers of food which filled all of us up, we got a dip plater for an appetizer, and a seafood plater for an entree, and of course before all of that we got Saganaki (for you non-greeks, that's the flaming cheese), OPA! And while we were eating, out came a belly dancer! We were having so  much fun clappinbg and yelling and do crazy stuff, and then guess what...she took my hand to come up and dance with her! Becca and my Mom also joined in and we were shakin' what are Mommas gave us! hahahahaha then she was showing us how to shake our hips the way she was and then ya gotta shake your bosom, HAHAHA! Sooooo much fun, probably one of the best times I've had down at the Taste of the Danforth! Can't wait til next year! But one things for sure, once a year is enough! LOL

Flo's Diner (Yorkville)

Well, this was actually a last minute thing, but on Friday I went for lunch with my cousin (the one that's moving to Ottawa) to Flo's Diner (in Yorkville), the food was okay, but it FORever for the food to come, and I wasn't overly pleased with the results, so I probably won't be either GOING to that restaurant again, or I might just go and get something different. Anywho after that we did a little shopping, one of the stores I went into was "Over the Rainbow", a lot of denim, but there were some cute pieces I liked, opne was a cute purple skirt, and the other a cute vest, I ended up not going for the skirt, but I still was on the fence about the vest so I asked them if they could put it on hold until the end of the day because I wanted to continue my shopping, unfortunately they said they were unable to do so (wth?!) and by the time I went back, my size(the only one left) was gone! Ugh! This is what happens when someone your size sees you tryin on somethin pretty and sees you put it back! Anywho, I did end up buying other things, like this absolutely cute designer wrapping paper(:P), I know :) starnge, but it's abosultely adorable!, and Becca's birthday is coming up soon...now I just need a gift to go with the paper! lol! Unfortunately, I can't take any pictures of the paper because A) she could see what it looks like on the blog, and B) it's all wrapped up perfectly and just waiting to be wrapped around a gift and I don't want to damage it somehow, rip it, crinkle it, etc. But I do have picutures of us on the way back home :)

Interview with a Musician

I knoooow this is late, but the internet has been down for the past TWO days! Ugh!

Full Name: Jeremy Larson
Occupation: Musician

When did you first start making music?
I started taking piano lessons when I was probably about 10 years old. In junior high, I started playing the trumpet and the bass. Anything else I kind of picked up along the way. I didn't write my first song until I was about 18. I actually never really wanted to sing.

What’s your musical inspiration?
Most of my musical inspiration comes from movies. I'm really into David Lynch and Charlie Kaufman, and they have been a heavy source of inspiration for the new album.

Do you have a favourite artist?
My favourite artist right now would have to be Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. He wrote the soundtrack for "There Will Be Blood", and its pure genius. And of course I'm a big fan of Radiohead as well, but the movie scores that he's done really impress and challenge me.

Do you like going on the road to play your music?
I like being on the road in moderation. I was fortunate enough to travel with some guys that have become very close friends. That makes a difference. A few short tours every year is enough for me.
Do you like having a beard (haha)?
Yes, but I will probably be shaving it soon. The first time in about 8 years.
Who is your idol?My idol is Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips. He's probably in his late 40's and he's still making some of the most incredible music out there. He's always pushing the boundaries of pop music, and isn't slowing down at all. He's also a cool dresser.
How long have you been with Elsie?
Elsie and I have been together for about two and a half years.

Do you and Elsie ever clash opinions over music?
Not really. We don't listen to music when we're together. We are always talking when we are in the car. It's pretty rare that either one of us has music on when the other is in the room. But we do like all of the same bands. She's also a huge Flaming Lips fan.

Updates!

So....what's happening for the month of August?! Hmm?! Hmm?! Anyone?! No? Well I'll tell you what!... Exciting things! First thing on my plate is the volunteering! I had a meeting with the person in charge and now I'm waiting for a call from them as to when I start, I had hoped I would be able to start tomorrow, but I KNOW that's not going to happen, not only because it's too short notice, but also because I have a prior (more important) engagement. Then there's the Taste of the Danforth this weekend! Loads of pictures will be taken, don't worry! More VBPs will be making their way to the internet :) My current obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer is still staying strong..no seriously...I would kill anyone who prevents me from watching it...okay, I might just smack them :P Giveaway is being arranged, though I still have to take pictures and organize, so hopefully it will be coming soon... As far as photoshoots go...well lets just say they AREN'T going, I'm not really at a point were there is anyone around to photograph, so yaaaa....Anywho! That's basically it for the updates, if anything else comes up I'll let you know!

Presqu'ile Prov. Park.

So, as I noted in my tweets, I went on a mini road trip to Presqu'ile provincial park in Trenton on Saturday with family, including my VERY close cousin who is moving to Ottawa (*tear), so we're trying to see and spend as much time together as possible, which will be pretty hard considering the fact that I'll be starting my volunteering REALLY soon. Anywho! We had a fun time even though we got a really late start. I took photos, we suntanned, we explored (as you'll see in the video), and we RAN. hahaha

Happy August First!!!

Yay!

Life has been full the past few days. I'm not bored right now, so that's good. I went to Presqu'ile provincial park in Trenton yesterday. That was fun, it was a mini road trip with my aunt, uncle, and VERY close cousin, who's leaving for Ottawa soon :'(

At least it'll give me an excuse to go up there finally! :D

Video of my excurtion with my cousin yesterday will be coming soon, probably tomorrow :)
